The weather station is located in the village of Wöllsdorf in the valley of the river Zschopau, about 260 metres away from the river. The river Zschopau makes a bend here in an elongated valley basin in an east-west direction, which opens up to the east towards the town of Döbeln. To the west, towards the town of Hartha, the valley rises steeply. The village of Töpeln lies on the opposite side of the river Zschopau. The main wind direction is with a maximum 228° (SW) and a secondary maximum 254° (WSW).
